GENEVA LAKE — Water Safety Patrol lifeguards rescued two young children in separate incidents Friday at the beach after they came close to drowning.

According to a social media post Sunday (Read comments), the Safety Patrol said that in both cases, the kids had no parents or adult supervision at the beach.

They had been dropped off. One child was 8 years old, and the other was 10, according to the Safety Patrol.

They say children should never be left at the beach without direct adult supervision. Lifeguards are not babysitters, they say, and the lifeguards cannot be expected to see every person at every second.

Also, any non-swimmer children should always be within arms reach of an adult at all times while in the water.
