LAKE GENEVA — A fire in a Lake Geneva two-story duplex was quickly contained following a response from multiple agencies.
According to a news release, the Lake Geneva Fire Department responded at 9:45 a.m. to a structure fire at a two-story duplex at 831 Dodge Street and swiftly contained the blaze with mutual aid support.
Crews arrived on scene within three minutes of dispatch, reporting heavy smoke and fire from the residence.
Firefighters immediately launched an aggressive attack while confirming all occupants had safely evacuated, according to the news release.
An initial upgrade to a full structure fire response added units from Town of Delavan, Town of Lyons, East Troy, and Elkhorn.
Water reached the fire just five minutes after arrival, bringing it under control by 10:25 a.m..
Due to the building’s age, construction, and concealed spaces, a MABAS Box alarm summoned further assistance from Williams Bay, Town of Burlington, City of Delavan, Sharon, and Bloomfield-Genoa City fire departments.
“The rapid response and coordination with our mutual aid partners prevented this fire from spreading further into the living spaces,” said Lake Geneva Fire Chief John Peters. “We’re grateful no residents were harmed and proud of our team’s performance.”
The cause remains under investigation by fire officials, with no evidence of criminal activity.
One firefighter sustained minor injuries and was transported for treatment; all others escaped unharmed.
