WHITRWATER — An ultra-marathoner on a solo run across the United States to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary has made his way through Walworth County before spending the night in Whitewater.

Noah Coughlan, 41, an ultra runner, marathoner, and filmmaker from Vacaville, California, began his his fifth and final Run for America in October, with a goal of running 5,500 miles across 20 States, a tribute to highlight the American Spirit.

Coughlan ran through Walworth County on Wednesday and was greeted by law enforcement and residents alike along his route, including Lake Geneva and Elkhorn.

Coughlan has crossed 36 States previously with 14 States remaining. When he finishes his final American run on America’s 250th Semiquincentennial birthday on July 4th, 2026 in Hawaii, he will become only the third person ever to have crossed all 50 States on foot.
