LAKE GENEVA — A garbage truck caught fire today after the contents inside began to burn.

The Lake Geneva Fire Department was called out about 2:45 p.m. Monday for a report of a garbage truck on fire in a subdivision south of town.

When firefighters arrived they found flames coming from the rear of the truck, according to the Lake Geneva Fire Department.

The first engine arrived and began to extinguish the fire.

Garbage in the back of the truck was put on the street to be extinguished.

The news release did not indicate a cause.

Assistance was requested from Linn Fire Department and Lake Geneva DPW.

The fire was successfully put out with minimal damage to the garbage truck that was on fire.

LGFD remained on scene until the garbage was removed from the street and put in a dumpster for removal.

LGFD received help from the Lake Geneva Police Department, Lake Geneva Public Works and Linn Fire Department.
