GENEVA TOWNSHIP — A 52-year-old Town of Geneva man has been arrested following a shooting early Monday morning in Como.
According to a news release from the Town of Geneva Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting at 3895 Lincoln Avenue at approximately 2:25 a.m.
When they arrived, police say they found the victim, who they drscribed as “a young male,” who had been shot.
The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The suspect, Steven D. Merkel Jr., 52, who lives at the address of the shooting, was taken into custody and booked into the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office jail awaiting formal charges.
The Town of Geneva Police Department is investigating the incident in conjunction with the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office.
