EAST TROY – The Salvation Army will unveil its brand-new pavilion Saturday at Army Lake Camp, its summer camp for kids and teens.

The grand opening will be held from 11-12:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at N8725 Army Lake Rd. with light refreshments and fellowship to follow.

The pavilion will serve as a welcoming space for fellowship, reflection and recreation, enhancing the overall camp experience for hundreds of children each year.

This addition was made possible by a generous $1 million gift from Carolyn Larson, a dedicated supporter of The Salvation Army for more than 50 years.

“Camp is where kids experience joy, nature, and the love of Christ, all in one place,” Larson said in a news release. “Army Lake Camp provides something truly apecial for every child who visits.”

Larson and her late husband, Lowell, raised their three children with a love for the outdoors and a commitment to Christian values, often spending family time camping.

“Carolyn’s gift is a testament to her unwavering faith and her heart for
children,” said Major Shelley McClintock, Divisional Commander for The Salvation Army of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. “This pavilion will be a place where young lives are shaped for decades to come, and we are
honored to carry forward her legacy.”
