LAFAYETTE TOWNSHIP — A 62-year-old woman is dead and a person of interest is in custody after Walworth County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of two men fighting.

According to a news release, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call about 7:30 p.m. Saturday about a disturbance at W4708 Pine Court in the Town of Lafayette near Elkhorn.

The call was disconnected, and squads were immediately sent to the scene.

When deputies arrived, they located two males inside the residence who were fighting; both had apparent injuries and were bleeding.

The subjects were separated and detained.

Additional deputies, along with the City of Elkhorn Police and the Wisconsin State Patrol, arrived to assist.

An immediate search of the residence was conducted and a 62-year-old woman was located in a bedroom, unconscious, according to authorities.

Life-saving measures were performed by deputies and Elkhorn Area Ambulance personnel.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two male subjects were transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries.

A person of interest is in custody.

This is an ongoing investigation and an isolated incident, and there is no current threat to the community.
