SHARON — Fourteen sheep were killed Friday morning in a rural Walworth County fire, but there were no injuries to anyone involved in putting out the blaze.
According to a news release, Sharon Fire and Darien Fire/EMS were called about 7 a.m. Friday to the 7000 block of S&D Townline Road for a confirmed structure fire.
MABAS Box 40-1 was requested to the first alarm.
Sharon/Darien full time staff and Darien 2302 arrived on scene first and began fire attack and established water supply.
As crews continued to arrive on scene, an elevated water stream was established and the fire was brought under control.
No one was hurt in the fire, but ultimately it resulted in the loss of life of 14 sheep that were inside the building when the fire started.
The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
Approximately 102,000 gallons of water was used fighting the fire.
The City of Delavan Fire Department, Town of Delavan Fire & Rescue, City of Lake Geneva Fire Department, Elkhorn Area Fire Department, Fontana Fire and Rescue, Hebron-Alden-Greenwood Fire Protection District, Clinton Fire Protection District, Boone FPD #3, Boone FPD #1, Walworth County Sheriff’s Office, Walworth County Highway Department, City of Delavan Police Department, and Town of Turtle Fire Department assisted.
