ELKHORN — The Elkhorn Elks girls basketball team claimed the program’s first ever WIAA Division 2 state basketball title March 15, 1997 in Madison.

Elkhorn defeated Kimberly 51-48 in the final, following a win Friday 65-56 over Whitefish Bay. Elkhorn’s 27 points in the 4th quarter of the Whitefish Bay game tied a Div. 2 record for points in a quarter.]

Brooke VanDyke led the Elks with 19 points in the final.

She set the Division 2 record for 3-point field goal accuracy in a tournament game, hitting 3-of-3 shots from beyond the arc

Bridget Seegers dominated the inside with 13-points and 8 rebounds.

The team is coached by Jim Henriott.
