GENEVA LAKE — A 66-year-old Illinois man died Saturday morning in a crash between two boats on Geneva Lake.
Geneva Lake Police were informed about 7 a.m. Saturday of a boating crash on Geneva Lake.
Two boats had collided, and one person was critically injured with CPR in progress.
The boats involved in the crash went directly to a private pier on Basswood Drive, in the Town of Linn.
Upon arrival of Geneva Lake Police, Linn Police, Linn Fire/Rescue and Lake Geneva Fire/Rescue were on scene with the victims.
The incident occurred in Town of Linn in the middle area of the lake, east of Cedar Point.
A 16’ Sylvan was southbound heading out of Williams Bay with three people on board.
A 25’ Skeeter was westbound coming from the area of Black Point with two people on board.
The Skeeter was going 30-35 mph, according to the driver and the Sylvan was going 10-15 mph, according to its driver, when the Skeeter struck the Sylvan in a T-bone manner.
A 66-year-old man from Illinois was seated on the deck in the Sylvan facing backward and was stuck during the crash.
Lifesaving efforts were attempted, but the man succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead, according to a news release from the Geneva Lake Law Enforcement Agency.
The two other adult men were transported to Mercy Walworth for treatment of injuries.
The two adult men in the Skeeter were not injured.
Initial investigation showed alcohol appears not to be a factor.
The Wisconsin DNR is leading the investigation of the crash. Geneva Lake Police assisted in the initial investigation. All press should contact the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources for additional information.
