LAKE GENEVA — School districts are reassuring parents that there is no credible threat to a challenge sweeping through the social media app TikTok warning about school shootings Friday.

In a social media post Thursday, Lake Geneva police said they are aware of the TikTok but are not investigating any specific threat.

As a precaution, however, Lake Geneva police say the will have extra officers at all Lake Geneva Schools Friday.

The original TikTok challenge has been shared across the country and urged students to skip school on Dec. 17. But at some point, the challenge was changed to a school shooting threat, according to media reports.

“Our Department is not investigating any specific threats to any of our schools but we will have an extra police presence at all Lake Geneva schools on Friday, December 17th. As always, if you see something, say something,” read the police department post.

School districts across the state and country are posting similar statements.
