WHITEWATER — Police say they have arrested a woman they believe is connected to the death of a newborn found in a Whitewater field.

Whitewater Police say they arrested a 39-year-old Whitewater woman Friday, believed to be the mother of the newborn found dead.

She currently is being held in the Jefferson County Jail, according to a news release.

This case continues to be investigated, but the following charges are being forwarded to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office at this time: Wis. Stat. 948.23(2) – Concealing Death of a Child and Wis. Stat. 946.41 – Resisting or Obstructing Officer.

Additional charges, or modifications to these charges, may follow based on the continuing investigation.

No additional details werw provided by police.

Whitewater Police and EMS responded about 11 a.m. March 4 to the area of Twin Oaks Mobile Home Park on N. Tratt St. for a report of a deceased newborn located in a field.
