ELKHORN — Waterford high school choir classmates of Gina Weingart, who was killed early Thursday along with her husband in the Elkhorn bar where she worked, have launched a fundraiser to help with funeral expenses.

In a post to the Waterford High School Choirs Facebook group, classmates said Gina and her brother, Tony, were very involved in choir in high school.

“Gina and Emerson’s families deserve to mourn and celebrate their lives in peace and without worry of finances,” read the GoFundMe post. “Any funds donated will be given to Gina and Emerson’s families to help with funeral arrangement costs.”

Police were called the the Sports Page Barr in downtown Elkhorn just after midnight Thursday for a report that someone had been shot.

When they arrived, they found Gina and Emerson dead from gunshot wounds.

Gina worked at the bar and Emerson often went to the bar to keep her company.

Jordan Barr, owner of the Sports Page Barr, said Gina and Emerson were customers before Gina joined the staff and they quickly became close the staff and other patrons.

Authorities have not released any details as of Saturday about a possible suspect.
