ELKHORN — Jordan Barr, owner of the Sports Page Barr in Elkhorn took to social media Thursday to remember the two people found dead in the bar early that morning.

The Elkhorn Police Department has identified the couple who died as Emerson and Gina Weingart. Gina was a bartender and Emerson was at the bar keeping her company, as he frequently did.

The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center was called about 12:10 a.m. Thursday for a report of shots fired at the bar.

When the arrived, the found the Weingarts inside the bar with fatal gunshot wounds, according to a news release from the Elkhorn Police Department

Barr called Gina and Emerson dear friends.

“Before Gina joined our staff, she and Emerson started coming in and very quickly became close with all of us, staff and patrons alike,” Barr wrote on Facebook.

“When I eventually offered Gina a part time job, they were already a part of the family. Their lives were just beginning, and I believe I speak for our entire Sports Page family by saying we are absolutely devastated by what happened. It is a despicable act of violence that has shaken all of us to our core,” Barr said.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Elkhorn Police Department and other agencies.
