BURLINGTON — The funerals for Emerson and Gina Weingart, killed early Feb. 1, 2024, in the Elkhorn bar where she worked, will be held Saturday in Burlington.

Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024 at 4 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burlington, according to an obituary from Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home.

Relatives and friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Schuette-Daniels Funeral Home, 625 S. Browns Lake Drive, Burlington.

Gina will be laid to rest at St. Peter’s Cemetery in East Troy.

The couple started dating in 2020 and were married in June 2023.

They were, “two of the most beautiful, kindhearted and fun-loving couple you could ever know,” according to the obituary.

Emerson Leo Weingart, 33, was born in Menomonie Falls, Wisconsin. Having lived with his family in a number of places, he spent the most time in Burlington, WI. He grew up with God in his life, attended St. John’s Grade School, graduated from Shoreland Lutheran High School and was also a graduate of UW LaCrosse.

He was employed by Kroger as the Meat Department Manager at Metro Market in Mukwonago. He enjoyed his work as well as many friends and associates, having worked at a number of stores.

Emerson was an avid sportsman and learned to fish practically as soon as he could walk. Fishing was his passion, and his wife Gina was his side kick on many adventures, learning all his tricks. He was also a sports enthusiast, loving all the Wisconsin teams, especially the Packers. He and Gina enjoyed spending time with their family and friends fishing, hunting, playing board games and watching sports.

Emerson is survived by his parents, Jeff and Christi; grandparents, Richard and Marjorie Etienne; and younger brothers, Berek (Leah) and Leland. He was also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorials for Emerson can be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Gina Lynn Weingart (nee Gennara), 37, was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on December 14, 1986. She was the daughter of Timothy and Eva (nee Burke) Gennara. She grew up surrounded by family and friends. She lived in Milwaukee until age 9. She went to school at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Parish and received her Sacraments there as well. When she and her family moved to the Wind Lake area, she attended Drought Elementary School. She then graduated from Waterford High School.

When Gina was 6 years old, she attended Anita’s Dance Studio and performed many dance recitals over the years. In high school, she was involved in cheerleading and poms. She auditioned and was selected for a dance group that went on a cruise for a dance competition.

Gina worked at Wisconsin Vision Associates and also bartended at Sports Page Barr. She loved karaoke and had a great voice. She enjoyed dancing and art. She was a very social person and loved people. When she walked into a room, by the end of the day, she would know everyone. She had a beautiful smile that would light up a room.

Gina is survived by her parents, Eva and Tim Gennara; brother, Anthony (Arielle) Gennara; niece, Emerald; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, second cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Ella Gennara and Donald and Regina Burke.
