GENEVA TOWNSHIP — A Lake Geneva man died Saturday when his motorcycle crashed into a vehicle in the town of Geneva.
The Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 53-year-old Shad Volbrecht of Lake Geneva.
According to a news release, the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call shortly after noon Saturday about a motorcycle vs. car crash at the intersection of Como Road and Alder Drive in the Town of Geneva.
Town of Geneva Police, Walworth County Sheriff’s Deputies, City of Lake Geneva Police, and Lake Geneva Fire and EMS units responded to the crash.
When first responders arrived, they found a car and a motorcycle damaged at the intersection.
First responders began treating the motorcyclist for injuries but were unsuccessful.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by the Walworth County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The occupants in the car were not injured.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the car was stopped while waiting for oncoming traffic to clear and make a left turn when the motorcyclist rear-ended it, according to the sheriff’s office.
The Walworth County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team is investigating this incident.
Responding agencies include the Town of Geneva Police Department, the City of Lake Geneva Police Department, and Lake Geneva Fire and EMS.
