WILLIAMS BAY — The World’s Tallest Glass Tree will once again be built over the holiday season on the grounds of Yerkes Observatory in Williams Bay.

You can be a part of this stunning holiday tradition by donating clear or green glass.

Drop-off locations include:

  • Harbor Shores and Gino’s East- 300 Wrigley Dr. Lake Geneva
  • Strategic Materials – 1845 Hobbs Dr, Delavan, WI
  • Williams Bay Sailboat Rigging Lot across from the park- 41 E Geneva St. Williams Bay, WI
  • Fontana Home Outdoor- 127 Valley View Dr. Fontana, WI

The event includes live glassblowing, steel sculpting, and woodworking all part of this sparkly holiday spectacle.

About 300 pounds of glass, melted right on the grounds of Yerkes, are added each day of the event.

On Sunday, Dec. 15, at 4 p.m., the tree is topped with a four-and-a-half foot tall blown glass star to complete the installation.

Admission is $5 per person with children aged 9 and under admitted free.

Add on an ornament or glass blowing workshop ($40-$50) or a chance to add glass to the tree ($10).

A portion of the proceeds raised will go to support art and science education at Yerkes.

Parking is at Williams Bay High School with free trolley transport to the site.
