Walworth's "Christmas in my hometown," will take place Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 with events throughout the village.

WALWORTH — It’s been years since the village of Walworth has hosted a Christmas event. But this year, community volunteers and local groups have come together to plan a celebration all its own.

Walworth’s “Christmas in my hometown,” will take place Saturday, Nov. 30, 2024 with events throughout the village.

The event is a combined effort between the Big Foot Recreation District, the Geneva Lake West Chamber of Commerce and the Walworth Parks, according to Arlene Vorpagel, one of the event volunteers.

Businesses will be open with specials as part of Small Business Saturday, an annual nationwide movement to encourage people to shot local after the Black Friday rush.

There will be lots of family fun at Big Foot High School from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., including a hometown market, holiday crafting and a viewing of the movie, “Elf.”

Then at 4:30 p.m., the community is asked to head over to Devil’s Lane Park for what’s billed as the Big Event.

Several surprises are in store, including a special arrival by Santa. The Santa watch begins at 5 p.m. with the tree lighting at 5:30 p.m.

Reserved senior and ADA seating will be available in the park. There will be a hot chocolate bar, snacks, music and a photo booth.

The event is 100% made possible by donors and contributions.

Paid partnership with Santana Collectibles.
