DELAVAN — Bob’s Beach Shack is back, but this time in Delavan.
For years the store was a mainstay of Lake Geneva just off the main drag downtown, selling T-shirts, beachwear and kitschy souvenirs.
But after the building was sold last year, owner Bob Lee closed up shop to spend the winter in the Virgin Islands.
In a social media post Sunday, Lee wrote that he was, “going back to our roots where the very first Bob’s Beach Shack originated, in Delavan.”
He said he’ll be “opening May on the bricks downtown.”
A photo on the Bob’s Beach Shack Facebook page shows the new location will be on the ground floor of the Baymont hotel in the heart of downtown Delavan.
In a profile on the Downtown Lake Geneva website, Lee said he started my business, creatively named ‘Bob’s Store,’ in Walworth in 1991.
He later found the abandoned shack in the Delavan Inlet where the store was located for several years before his move to Lake Geneva.
“And it clicked that this was what he wanted to do,” he said.
