WALWORTH — Chad Roehl, a business and computers teacher at Big Foot High School, has been awarded a 2025 Accounting Career Awareness Grant by the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants Educational Foundation.

The grant helped fund three projects:

1) a February trip to Milwaukee to participate in the FBLA Day with the Milwaukee
Bucks, during which students toured Fiserv Forum and heard breakout speakers in
several locations, including personnel from the Accounting Department;
2) a March trip to UW–Madison for two teams of students in the college-level
accounting course to compete in the forensic accounting competition;
3) a future field trip for accounting and FBLA students to visit Epic Systems in
Verona and Strohm Ballweg LLP in Middleton, ending at the business school of
either UW–Madison or Madison College.

Roehl is one of 12 educators to receive an Accounting Career Awareness Grant this year.

The grant is open to Wisconsin high school accounting and business teachers who attended the
WICPA High School Educators Accounting Symposium last November.

“I want to congratulate these educators and thank them for generating excitement about the accounting profession in their classrooms,” Paul Frantz, WICPA Educational Foundation president said in a news release. “With the help of these grants, around 350 students across Wisconsin were able to obtain hands-on knowledge and experience and learn more about the limitless opportunities that the accounting profession has to offer.”

The WICPA Educational Foundation plays a pivotal role in supporting programs to improve awareness and perceptions by educating Wisconsin students and educators about the exciting opportunities available in the accounting profession.

Many of the Accounting Career Awareness Grant projects involve teachers, administrators, college or technical school faculty, and CPAs across the state.

The WICPA is the premier professional association for Wisconsin accounting and business professionals, with more than 7,000 members working in public accounting, industry, government and education.
