EAST TROY TOWNSHIP — A suspect is in critical condition after being shot by a Walworth County sheriff’s deputy, authorities said Tuesday.

According to a news release, Walworth County 911 received a call about 3:45 p.m. Monday from a residence on Wilmers Grove Road in the Town of East Troy.

The man who called said he was being attacked by a woman with a razor blade.

Officers from the Town of East Troy Police Department were sent to the location and the Village of East Troy Police Department and the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office were requested for assistance.

When they arrived, law enforcement confirmed the suspect had cut the caller with a razor blade.

The suspect left the residence through a window armed with a knife, authorities said.

Despite numerous commands to drop the weapon, the suspect advanced towards officers.

A Walworth County Deputy Sheriff discharged their rifle, striking the suspect, according to the news release.

Law enforcement and East Troy Fire and Rescue immediately administered life-saving medical aid to the suspect, who was then transported to a local hospital and is in critical condition at the time of this release.

The man who called was treated on scene for non-life-threatening injuries. A third resident in the home was unharmed.

The suspect remains in custody, and the following charges are being referred to the Walworth County District Attorney’s Office:

  • 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety While Armed
  • Disorderly Conduct While Armed
