WILLIAMS BAY — An e-scooter rider was taken by Flight fir Life to an area hospital following a crash Sunday in Williams Bay. No other vehicles were involved.
According to a news release, the Williams Bay Police Department along with Williams Bay-Fontana EMS responded about noon to the single-vehicle crash of an electric powered scooter (e-scooter) in Lakewood Trails Subdivision on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
The 14-year-old scooter operator sustained serious injuries and was transported by Flight For Life to an area hospital.
Williams Bay Police Department is actively investigating the crash. Witnesses are cooperating and have been extremely helpful.
In its news release, the Williams Bay Police Department noted that e-scooters and e-bikes continue to grow in popularity, and with the increased availability of electric-powered transportation, there is a growing concern for operator safety.
Police are asking parents, families, friends and classmates to come together, grieve the seriousness of these injuries and challenge one another to embrace safe scooter bike habits.
