LAKE GENEVA — Abel Rosas, executive chef at the Grandview Restaurant in the Geneva Inn, has been invited to be in an online competition for a feature in Bon Appétit Magazine!

The winner will receive worldwide recognition inside one of the largest cooking publications in the world, a cash prize of $20,000 and the title of Favorite Chef 2021.

Rosas currently is second in his group.

You can VOTE DAILY HERE.

If he wins, Rosas says he will donate $10,000 to the local food pantry, $5,000 to the Tree House Child and Family Center in Elkhorn and $10,000 to the Open Arms Free Clinic to help give back to the community.

He also plans to put some of the money into savings to someday open his own restaurant.

Rosas provided this for his online profile:

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN COOKING?
I first developed my love for cooking by watching my grandmother, Elena, work her magic in the kitchen. At a young age I would sit in amazement as she would make fresh tortillas on the comal. My first professional position in the kitchen was at 16 years old, as a dishwasher where I continued pushing myself and learning the trade. Currently, I am the head chef at The Grandview Restaurant in Lake Geneva. I also offer my services as a Private Chef.

WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE DISH?
Oscar style veal chop, asparagus, lobster claw & knuckle meat, Au gratin potato, béarnaise sauce, garnished with micro flowers.
