George Harnish, one of the more colorful members of the Kilted Snow Weasels snow sculpting team has died.

The Kilted Snow Weasels were regular fixtures over the years at Lake Geneva Winterfest’s U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition.

According to a Facebook post shared by U.S. Nationals Snow Sculpting, Harnish died about 7:30 a.m. Thursday.

“At around 7:30am this morning an angel earned his wings ❤️You were a great teacher and even more wonderful man I wish I was able to say my final goodbyes but I was too late,” read a post from Genevieve Casmira. “Rest easy we all love you ❤️we will never forget you or what you taught us all George Harnish.”

Harnish, also known as Shamus McWeasel, was always willing to stop and talk to visitors during the annual four-day competition and delighted in entertaining the many school groups that stopped by.
