DELAVAN — The message of “NO KINGS” is coming to downtown Delavan on Saturday, Oct. 17, but this time the focus will be on what happens at the ballot box.
NO KINGS: Vote Early will bring community members together from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Park Bandshell, 111 E. Wisconsin St., for music, speakers and a peaceful march through downtown Delavan.
The event comes as Wisconsin voters prepare for the Nov. 3 election.
Organizers say turnout will be critical and are encouraging eligible voters to learn about their voting options, including early voting and making a plan to vote.
“Protest is one way people make their voices heard. Voting is another—and it is one of the most powerful,” event organizer Anita Loch said. “We want people to leave this event with a plan to vote and with the confidence that their voice matters.
“On October 17, we’re going to make sure people know their options, make their voting plans and make their voices heard.”
Organizers say the event is part of a nationwide effort to turn the energy of recent protests into increased voter participation ahead of the November election.
For more than a year, millions of people across the country have participated in NO KINGS protests opposing the concentration of political and economic power and emphasizing that elected off.icials are accountable to the people and the law.
NO KINGS: Vote Early represents a call for direct civic participation.
In addition to protesting, participants will be encouraged to take the next step: Make A Plan To Vote.
The event is open to all eligible voters and community members. Organizers emphasize that the goal is to increase voter participation—not to tell voters how to vote or which candidates to support.
