LAKE GENEVA — Lake Geneva returns to the center of the snow sculpting universe when artists from across the country arrive for the 2022 U.S. National Snow Sculpting Championship.
The 27th Annual Winterfest, which features the Snow Sculpting Championship, runs from February 2 – 6, 2022.
This free community event is the only national snow sculpting championship in the United States, welcoming the most talented and award-winning sculpting teams from across the country.
Fifteen state-champion teams work during an epic three-day competition where their artistry is put to the test in creating remarkable, larger-than-life snow sculptures.
The snow sculpting competition runs from 11 a.m. Wednesday through 1 p.m. Saturday at Riviera Plaza and Flat Iron Park along the shore of Geneva Lake.
Sculptors typically begin their work Wednesday afternoon and continue, sometimes through the night, until tools-down at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Visitors can vote for the people’s choice award from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday online at WinterfestLG.com or inside in person at the Riviera Boathouse.
It’s free to attend and view, and sculptures will remain on display often through the following week until they melt. It’s all up to Mother Nature.

Also enjoy an array of more wintery fun during Winterfest, including a downtown ice sculpture tour, igloos and bonfires on the beach, live entertainment and much more for the whole family.
Conciding with Winterfest is the annual Ice Castles display at Geneva National.

The interactive experience, which opens Jan. 22, 2022, features ice-carved tunnels, fountains, slides, frozen thrones, and cascading towers of ice embedded with color-changing LED lights.
