DELAVAN — Three residents were injured, along with the suspect, in a home invasion involving a stabbing Sunday morning in Delavan.

According to a news release, police officers from the City of Delavan Police Department responded about 8:20 a.m. to a report of a home invasion and stabbing on Burr Oak Court.

Deputies from the Walworth County Sheriff’s Office and police officers from the Town of Delavan also responded to assist.

Three of the residents in the home were injured, but their injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.

The suspect, who also sustained injuries, was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect appeared to be acting alone, police say.

Police didn’t say what led up to the incident, however they say the family’s quick and decisive actions averted a worse tragedy.

The situation has been resolved, and there is no further danger to the community, police said early Sunday afternoon.
