Sepoll Purple Heart

ELKHORN — The Walworth County Veterans Service Office is searching for the family of WWII Purple Heart recipient, in hopes of returning the medal.

In a social media post, the office said it has been in possession of John C. Sepoll’s Purple Heart medal for several years, and even possibly decades.

All they know is that the veteran died in WWII Oct 14, 1944 and is buried at Saint Joseph Cemetery, River Grove, Illinois.

According to documents included with the medal, his wife is Helen Sepoll Kohler, and they had a son, John. His siblings included Benjamin, Mary Buthman, William and Pauline Sticher, according to the website FindaGrave.com

The office didn’t say how they acquired the medal, but would like give it back to his family, but are at a loss.
