Local philanthropy surpasses $100,000 in annual giving for second consecutive year
LAKE GENEVA – The Geneva Lake Women’s Association continues to make a meaningful impact across Walworth County, awarding individual $5,000 grants totaling $30,000 to six local nonprofits during its annual membership meeting held April 6 at Hawk’s View Golf Club.
This year’s grant recipients include:
- Agape House
- Big Foot Emergency Food Pantry
- Deserving Rides, Inc
- Geneva Lake VFW Post 2373
- Lake Geneva Food Pantry
- St Vincent de Paul, St Benedict Chapter
Each organization plays a vital role in supporting the health, stability, and resilience of Walworth County residents, according to a news release.
From providing safe, therapeutic housing for teens overcoming trauma at Agape House, to ensuring families have access to food, diapers, and essentials through local pantries, these grants directly support individuals and families facing real challenges. Organizations like Deserving Rides restore independence by providing reliable vehicles to those in need and will expand its transportation support program through the purchase and distribution of child car seats, while Geneva Lake VFW Post 2373 honors and supports veterans through community programming. St. Vincent de Paul, St. Benedict Chapter offers critical financial and housing assistance to families navigating hardship.
“This is what community looks like in action,” said GLWA President Pam Wenc. “Our members are deeply committed to making a difference right here in Walworth County. Whether it’s helping a family put food on the table, providing safety with child car seats, or supporting a young person on their path to healing – these grants represent hope, stability, and opportunity. We are incredibly proud of the impact we’re able to make together.”
The grants are part of a broader commitment by GLWA, which has now surpassed $225,000 in total annual giving since 2023 – through donations, grants, and scholarships.
Founded in 1964 as the Lake Geneva Jaycettes and established as an independent organization in the mid-1980s, GLWA has a long-standing tradition of civic service. Today, the organization includes approximately 80 members dedicated to strengthening the local community through both financial support and hands-on volunteerism.
Funds for donations, grants and scholarships are raised through a variety of events, including the upcoming Women’s Weekend (April 24–26), the annual Ladies Day Luncheon on September 14 at Lake Lawn Lodge, and a Murder Mystery Dinner on November 21st at Rosewood Dinner Theater in Delavan.
